Why is it called Music Farming?
While we subscribe to the punk rock reasoning of - “why not?”...
The name was Inspired by the idea of ‘putting money into the dirt’, and reflects our commitment to cultivate a love for music, recognize its benefits, and, with the support of our partners, make it accessible to all.
What makes us different from other music ed non-profits?
We help with after-school & extra curricular programs, programs outside the public school systems, programs helping or instructing adults & seniors, programs helping kids in the foster care system, hospitals, or in juvenile rehabilitation, etc.
We focus on a sustainable corporate membership model, instead of individual donations. Allowing us to allocate more dollars to music programs and less on marketing for fundraising.
Each year we seek to add Programs that provide music education & instruction to communities that our grants have not yet reached.
We are active in research and outreach to ensure varied rural and specific community based non-profits know there are grants available and encourage them to apply.
What are the requirements for a program to apply for a grant?
Must be a 501 C-3 or sponsored by such a program
Must meet criteria listed on our funding criteria page
If I am an individual and not a company can I still donate?
Yes! If you would like to donate we would never stop you. However to make our fundraising model as sustainable as possible our focus is corporate membership.
Is there anything that could make my Non-profit stand out for Selection?
We prioritize programs that provide music education to strategically undervalued or economically disadvantaged participants, or to communities with little to no access to such programs.
We also take into several factors that are not criteria to apply within our selection process. You can read some of those HERE (Hyperlink to Doc or separate blog style page with points that didnt make criteria)
